My Special day in Thailand

Thailand has lots of festivals. My favorite is Loy Krathong day that is one of the most popular festivals of Thailand. Thai people celebrate annually on the full-moon day of the twelfth lunar month. It takes place at a time when the weather is fine as the rainy season is over, and there is a high water level all over the country. In ancient times, Thailand was an agricultural country which had to use water to do agriculture. Thai people believe water is very important for them. So everyone has to respect the Goddess of water, that is the reason to have this festival.
Loy is a verb that means to float and Krathong, is a lotus-shaped vessel, make from banana tree, cut in a thin cylindrical shape, and banana leaves. Each Krathong usually contains a candle, three joss- sticks, some flowers and coins. In fact, people offer thanks to the Goddess of the water that call as " Pra Mae Kong Ka ". The festival starts in the evening when there is a full moon in the sky. Everone carries their Krathongs to the nearby canals, rivers or even small ponds. In the moonlight, people light candles and joss- sticks, make a wish and launch their Krathongs. People let their Krathongs drift away till they go out of sight.
It is believed that the Krathongs carry away sins and bad luck. It is the time to be joyful and happy as the sufferings are floated away and if you go with your boyfriend or girlfriend and launch your Krathongs, and both of your Krathong float in parallel way, it means you both are soul mate, (hahahahahaha!!!) that is reason that I like Loy Krathong day. I think one day I will meet my soul mate in Loy Krathong day. (^-^)
